Who?

Students who have never been to college anywhere, never been to HCC, not been to HCC in a while are all welcome at the HonCC 101 event.

First Time in college students: These students are required to attend HonCC 101. The sessions will start on April 19th. The dates that are available will be listed on this site as soon as they available active sign up. Sessions 10:30am - 2:30pm. Some students may finish earlier.

Returning Students & Transfer Students: Students who have attended college before are not prevented from registering before attending a session. Sessions are 10:30am - 12:30pm. The sessions will start on April 19th. The dates that are available will be listed on this site as soon as they available active sign up.You may visit with a Counselor in the Admissions and Counseling (845-9219) for help with Registration.

Why?

Through HonCC 101 you will receive a comprehensive balance of academic and co-curricular information. This is a chance to have students and faculty address your concerns about registration, academic advising, and the culture of our campus community. The event is also designed to encourage interaction with other incoming HCC students who may share the same experiences, questions, and concerns that you may have. You will also get a chance to see the campus and locate your classrooms before the rush.

What is it?

The event is structured so that you have plenty of time for questions, breaks and mingling. All sessions are conducted by students and faculty. Each session is a power-packed with of relevant, useful information.

Student Success: A workshop that is coordinated by students, here you will meet the 101 team. They will help you figure out what being a successful student is all about. Here you will find out about life on campus in a nut-shell. You will find out things like, RISOs (Recognized Independent Student Organizations), Student Media Board, ASUH-HCC (Student Government), Parking, Childcare services, etc.

Campus Tour: You will be able to go on a complete main campus tour. Stops will highlight valuable tid-bits about campus services. Find out what and where everything is on the main campus.

Registration (for First Time Students): You will watch an informational video on how to Register and then counselors will assist you in course selection.

Where?

Check in will be in Building 2. There will be HonCC 101 signs to help you find your way. If you are driving to campus, please be sure to park in Student parking lots. They will offer you free parking for the day of the event. You will get a parking pass for student lots in your event confirmation email. These lots are identified on the Campus Map.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I have to stay the whole time? Can I come in late or leave early?

Arrive early and plan to stay through the end. Late arrivals and early departures will be asked to reschedule. It will make your experience much more enjoyable if you are not rushing in and out.

2. What if I have not registered for classes yet?

By the point of attending HonCC (for returning & transfer students) you should have applied, been accepted, taken placement tests and registered for your courses. If you have not completed these steps you should make the proper arrangements to complete these steps as soon as possible. If you need help completing these steps, then you may want to contact Admissions & Counseling at 845-9129 for more information on becoming enrolled and registered.

3. What do I need to bring?

  • Any of your HCC information and receipts that you have completed and/or received. This information will help us answer any questions you may have about your specific situation.
  • Your MyUH login information in case you want to go into your account that day.
  • You will need a government issued ID (State ID, Driver License, Passport) and proof of payment to get a Student ID.
  • You will be getting lots of information & materials. You may want to bring a comfortable bag or back pack and something to use to take notes during the sessions.
  • Transcripts (for Transfer students seeking credit for previous courses)
