WELCOME


Honolulu Community College is pleased to announce the Music & Entertainment Learning Experience (MELE) degree program for the 2011 - 2012 school year. MELE courses were first introduced at the Honolulu Community College beginning Fall 2007.   Since then, new courses have been introduced as part of the new degrees. MELE Associate of Science degrees in Music Business or Audio Engineering are ACCJC-WASC approved. Click the menu buttons above for more information on the MELE and general education core courses leading towards an Associate of Science degree in either Music Business or Audio Engineering.

Admissions for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 semester are ongoing. For more information on our degree programs please browse through our site, call, or contact us online. ** MELE Program Mandatory Meetings **

The MELE Program requires that all registered and potential MELE majors attend ONE (1) mandatory meeting from the following dates and times:

September 28, 2011 - 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM
September 29, 2011 - 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
September 30, 2011 - 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

General topics of discussion include more details about your academic journey, Grammy University (GrammyU), Audio Engineering Society (AES), Graduation (for those who qualify), and the MELE Club.  For all returning students who are prepparing for the Spring 2012 graduation, please be sure to attend this meeting so you can directly meet with the Program Coordinator to talk more about MELE 275 Practicum requirements and important graduation details.  For further info please see your MELE Instructor, visit the MELE Program office, or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. ** MELE Program Instructor wins Na Hoku Hanohano Award **

Music & Entertainment Learning Experience (MELE) instructor and producer of Pass Out Records, Eric Lagrimas, was honored at the 34th annual Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards for Extended Play Release Album of the Year presented by the Hawai‘i Academy of Recording Arts (HARA).

** Mike Curb MELE Studios featured in professional audio and music production publication MIX Magazine**

Honolulu Community College (HCC) developed an educational partnership with Belmont University in Nashville and recently installed a 64-channel Rupert Neve Designs 5088 discrete analog console outfitted with Martinsound Flying Fader automation. The 5088 console is the centerpiece of the new production facility for the college's Music and Entertainment Learning Experience (MELE) program, which was funded by the Mike Curb Family Foundation through the University of Hawaii Foundation (UHF) and by federal grants.
